Creed is AWESOME

Okay, this song has been stuck in my head. It rocks, and here's why:
When he is about to sing the first chorus ("hold me now" at 47 seconds in) it feels like he's about going to go into an anthemic chorus. His voice has slowly been crescendoing and becoming harsher in timbre through the verse, and a cymbal roll prepares us for some heavy guitar. However, instead of the full power of the rock trio, we get this subdued (might I say heartwrenching?) plea for warmth, with some dissonant chords on the frail guitar (that has had some real nice lines throughout). This makes the second "hold me know" that much more effective as he wails over full-arm power chords in the guitar. American songwriting at its best: using a rather simple formal device for immediate visceral reaction.

Hate all you want, but you can't argue with musicology.
