3 Fallacies re: Art v. Commerce

Very interesting essay, although I wish the three fallacies were in the abstract so I didn't actually have to read it:

#1: Art is a luxury, an indulgence
#2: Yeah, but that’s not art; it’s not any good
#3: Commerce Dominates and Corrupts Art, and Subverts its Purpose

At the root of these fallacies, according to the authors, is a separation of Art from daily life. As we place Art on a pedestal by creating a distance between aesthetics and functionality, creative work slips down Maslow's pyramid with art, even though it remains a necessity supported by even the weakest economies.
